My Hand Is Extremely Swollen As I Got A Needle Stuck On My Palm. Should I Be Worried?

I got a needle stuck in my palm annd now my hand is extremely swollen and my fingers are unusable without great pain. The time from injury to full sweeling has been about 12 to 16 hours. I do not have a fever are any of the symptoms although I do have a short red line on my top of the hand. Is this is extremely serious or can i justdrink water and stay rested and see what happens

Hi,

I am empathetic to the hand injury suffered by you. As i can get there was a needle stuck palm and now hand is extremely swollen and fingers are unusable without great pain.

This type of situation occurs If the injury is deep enough with secondary infection over the same. As you have extremely swollen and fingers it may be possible to have the same. You should consult a doctor to check the same at the earliest and "URGENTLY".

Do not try applying over the counter products as these can further aggravate the situation. Do not pinch or pop the area as it can further aggravate the condition. Keep the hand raised above the heart level so that the swelling should not occur.

Do go for tetanus vaccination within 24 hours so that any serious side effect can be prevented.

Take care.
