My Husband (Wayne) Is 72 Yrs Old. He Has Diabetes

My husband (Wayne) is 72 yrs old. He has diabetes and COPD. About 1:30 this afternoon, he started complaining about a tightness in his chest. He has episodes with his hiatle hernia. He has never had any real problems with his heart....so we're hoping it is just a bad case with his " " . We called the doctor on call in our primary care physician's office. He asked him a lot of questions and because of his symptoms.....suggested he try Maloxx or an an acid. His BP was 142/ 64 at 3:50; no temp, pulse 72. The doctor on call did not think his vitals were indicative of major heart problem. Wayne did chew 4 Anacids which was about 30 minutes ago. The doctor said that should relieve problem.....but if not maybe he should go to Emergency center and get blood work done and EKG. What do you think? Trivial....but we have a church PAID dinner at 7:00 tonight and I'm not sure what we should do? Please advise.
