My Husband Had Sudden Hearing Loss In His Right Ear

My husband had sudden hearing loss in his right ear 10 days ago. His doctor sent him to an ENT who diagnosed a viral infection. Because of my husband's diabetes and high blood pressure (both under control with medication), he recommended a shot of steroid in the ear. He gave him two injections a week apart, but so far, no improvement. Is it likely he will not regain his hearing?
