My Husband Has GERD And Takes 40 Mg Of Omeprazole

My husband has GERD and takes 40 mg of omeprazole and follows all of the recommended suggestions. He recently had an egd with dilatation of his esophagus where it joins the stomach. He takes lovastatin 40 mg, fish oil 1200 mg, CoQ 10 mg and asa 62 mg daily. His problem is he has an acidic and bitter taste any time of the day. He takes his medication after his evening meal. He chews a small piece of Trident Bubble gum after each meal. So the question is what is causing this taste? His gastrointorologist has no answer for it.
