My husband has had for several years now, a post nasal drip that creates so much phlegm that it causes a lot of coughing as he is trying to clear his throat sometimes can't hardly talk b/c of the issue. He just went to his PC who today, put him on prednisone for the next 7 days. Does this help this kind of issue. I ask b/c I know the side affects of prednisone aren't good. PC says if after 7 days it clears up and then goes for only a week or two and has it back then he needs an allergist. Are there other alternatives to prednisone? Thank you.
