My Husband Is 73...He Has Developed A Dry Cough That

My husband is 73...He has developed a dry cough that is aggravated by talking, especially late afternoon and into the evening. This has been going on for about 2 weeks. He thought it was a reaction to his blood pressure medication and called his regular dr and had it changed. But that hasn't seemed to alievate the problem. This evening he coughed so hard that he started complaining of ringing in his ears. Is there something that can be done to help until Monday when he can call his regular dr?
