My Husband's Latest Test Result Shows Creatinine 1.57 And BUN

My husband's latest test result shows creatinine 1.57 and BUN 32. He is 80 years old with type II diabetes, congestive heart failure and the doctor has prescribed 1000 mg Metformin 1/2 in am and 1/2 in pm. According to the mfrs. insert he should not be taking it. The doctor insists it is ok. We are beginning to use confidence in him. What is your opinion?
