My Left Ear Has Been Hurting For The Past Few

My left ear has been hurting for the past few days / i got a mermaid tail for Christmas and i tried it on a few days ago . When I was swimming for over an hour my ear started hurting . My mimi ( she is babsitting me right now ) said , " that if your ear is infected you could have a fever " . Is my mimi's statement true ( mimi is another word for grandma .)
