My Mom Had Most Of The Bowel Removed And Then

My mom had most of the bowel removed and then resection surgery 3 years ago due to colon cancer. She has had many many accidents (no bowel control). She is elderly and refuses the only option (bag). She has been told repeatedly by doctors that is the only option she has. She eats whatever she wants, says it doesn't matter what she eats because when it decides to come out, it does (her words, not mine). Her accidents have resulted in throwing clothes away when she is away from home and has accidents, and has been very embarrassed many times. I have suggested bland foods, saltines, etc when she has plans to be away from home but she refuses any suggestions. But I am also supposed to listen to her horror stories almost daily. I know it is stressful for her, but I don't know what to do or say to help her. Any advice you can give me would be much appreciated
