My mother in law is in a rehab facility following a mid right femur break on 11/30/2016 and a left hip break on 1/4/2017. Her second hip repair surgery had to be delayed due to some issues with her heart and the cardiologist after some testing and looking at her rhythms from previous surgery and hospitalization, changed her from carvidilol 6.25 md BID to sotolol BID not sure of dosage to better manage her Atrial Febrillation. I just found out that the facility ran out of sotolol today after putting in an order over the weekend when it was running low but it ran out today and they still don;t have it tonight so she may miss two doses. I have escalated it to the director of facility and her was going to call the director of nursing and contact the doctor since they don't know if the medicine will arrive tonight or not. I read: Do not suddenly stop taking sotalol. Sharp chest pain, irregular heartbeat, and, sometimes, heart attack may occur if you suddenly stop sotalol. The risk may be greater if you have certain types of heart disease. If you miss a dose of sotalol, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. And Do not take 2 doses at once.
