Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mother is 92 years old and was admitted to the hospital having low blood pressure and an infection. They have been able to raise and stabilize her blood pressure. She has pneumonia and possibly an UTI. Her white count is now normal and her vital signs are good. She was admitted to the hospital last Friday and is being given a broad spectrum of antibiotics since they aren't able to obtain anything to culture. Three days ago she started getting confused and is now not eating, drinking, or speaking. I have been told she has delirium. She does have dementia, but has never been confused before let alone exhibited these symptoms. She is on a Dextrose IV also. What can be done to bring her out of the delirium so that she is interacting again?
