My Mother Is Elderly And Has Some Constipation For Which

My mother is elderly and has some constipation for which she takes metamucil daily and 1/2 dose of miralax every other day. She frequently has a "bubble" or lump in her lower abdomen which seems to be gas and goes away within an hour of taking GasX. She doesn't have regular good bowel movements, which makes me think she needs miralax more often, but if she takes it every day, she gets loose bowels. Occasionally she has lately been complaining of an upset stomach, being gassy, burping a lot or a little nauseated. Could all of that be related to constipation? She is a relatively anxious person and doesn't tolerate discomfort well emotionally.
