My daughter is 1 year old. She is having squint eyes. I do have a squint eye. I wanted her to get cured of that. I want to know the treatments available. Is it possible for me too to get corrected without a surgery. My age is 25 years.
at this age the chances are that this squint is accomodative in natur. These squints respond very well to cycloplegics. If iy responds as dramatically as i presume then these drops continue for a while under medical supervision for a while
The exact cause of squint is not really known, the eyes need to be checked to see if they have any refractive error or Amblyopia; that may be responsible for squint. If there is any significant refractive error present, it needs to be treated first. Squint can be corrected anytime between 5-24 months of age with corrective surgery, preferably before 12 months. atment involves surgery for either one or both the eyes. The surgery would include weakening or strengthening of the relevant muscles to restore the balance and to get a good coordination.
With early surgery, there will be better correction. The younger the age at which Amblyopia (associated with squint) is treated; the better is the chance of recovery of vision.
In case of an adults, the surgery can only improve but not permanently cure (100% result is not possible). You and your child will need to be evaluated by an Ophthalmologist.
