My Sister Is 61, Has Been A Heavy Drinker Since

My sister is 61, has been a heavy drinker since she was 14 - a functional alcoholic. She has also been on pain meds for knee replacement surgery as well as antidepressants. She is trying to wean herself off these at this time. She was under the care of a psychiatrist and a psychologist. She has ceased seeing these doctors. Two months ago she stopped drinking when she had a fall and woke up bruised and confused in her own home. She is now acting very strange with wild mood swings, cursing, emotional outbursts and behavior that includes asking a 69 year old fellow recovering alcoholic to marry her. She is spending money recklessly and pushing away friends, family and neighbors. Highly agitated at all time. She has extreme edema in her thighs, calves and feet. Is this normal for a recovering alcoholic?
