My Sister Is 77 Years Old. She Is Taking Gabapentin
My sister is 77 years old. She is taking Gabapentin 600mg 3x daily and has been doing so for quite some time for I believe her fibromyalgia symptoms. Her family has stated recently that her mental status has changed and she is more difficult to talk to and says "weird" things. her anxiety level has increased. I just finished talking to her on the phone and says she sees her pain dr. tomorrow. She also states she has such a bad taste in her mouth after taking the Gabapentin, so also takes something OTC for dry mouth and she states it helps some. I suggested she needs to ask her Dr. tomorrow about changing her medication to something else, although I know she can't quit taking Gabapentin "cold turkey", that the dose needs to be titrated. What do you think?
