Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son broke the tip of his left thumb (distal phlanax?) Because he fell while holding his skateboard and it broke the bone vertically in half. He had a cast on for 2 weeks, re X rayed, N it looks like it got worse (does a bone heal faster than a bruise?). Now another 2 weeks after that and I feel like it hasn't healed much because I can see the top of his nail and it's still bruised. All this time (3 different cast's) his thumb has had a good leeway to move back and forth.
I was wondering that just might not be a good thing. My son has an appointment (which they claim he should be completely healed by then) in 1 week and I'm afraid he's going to spend a full 5 weeks with a cast and it not do a damn thing because the docs didn't make the cast right.i called and voiced my concerns but they literally told me "ah well, no no he's fine."
Every motion his thumb moves. Every time he pushes down he's putting pressure on the thumb. I feel like he's gonna X ray it in a week and find that it just moved further apart.
What can I do??
