Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son had tubes put in years ago. One fell out and healed fine. The other took a lot longer than expected to fall out an after they decided to finally pull it, there was a hole. Over the next 18 months or so, they monitored. We finally went ahead with surgery to patch the hole but the doc said the hole had grown inward and needed to be completely reconstructed. We went back for a follow-up at which point the doc said everything looked fine. The pressure test revealed some back pressure and I noticed the test did not "peak" like it's supposed to. It was brushed off n I was told it wasn't a big deal n wouldn't affect anything. It would relieve itself. About 8 months later, we went in for a routine check up to make sure all was well. The new doc found ANOTHER hole in the ear that was reconstructed. So we're back at square one. Could the hole have been caused by the ear trying to relieve that back pressure that was "no big deal"?
