My Son Is A Soccer Player That Is A Captain

My son is a soccer player that is a captain in his senior year of high school. His coach and team depends on him. He wore new soccer shoes to a game and developed bad deep blisters on both ankles that are painful. He has to continue to train daily not allowing them to heal properly. With each practice and game they continue to get deeper not allowing them to heal. As his parent I'm trying to guide him with all I read and know. Cleaning them properly, dressing them before games and when he has to wear socks and shoes as well as leaving them clean and open to the air at night. I've also read to add supplements to his diet like vitamin c, bromelain, rutin and grape seed extract. Is there anything other than the obvious and when I've shared that I should be directing him to do other than let them completely heal before training again?
