Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is age 12. He has burning each time he urinates. He has been tested for UTI (had bacteria in one urine test and trace blood in one urine screen). The dr. put him on 3 different antibiotics and the bacteria is gone but the burning is still there. He passed a soft yellowish rice shaped item on Saturday and the Dr. sent it off on Monday to test. It came back as blood and/or protein the nurse believes is congealed. He has had a CT scan (no stones noted), he's had an ultra sound (not abnormal) and he had an IVP? yesterday where they put fluid in his vein and watched on the radiology films the way everything worked. The radiologist said it was all good & normal but the burning is still there. On occasion, he has sharp flank pain but it is not a lot. I have asked what else could be causing him to burn when he urinates and they don't know. Did not schedule a follow up & said they guessed he was okay. Nurse said if he got worse to let them know. I do not want him to be sick but I do not think it is normal to burn every time you urinate. Could you please give me something to check or that I should cut out of his diet? Anything?
