My son was told he has chronic inflammation of the chest and has been told that he will have to be on steroids for the rest of his life. He is only 22 years old. There are times when the movement of just breathing is very painful. This pain started when he was entering 9th grade. Every so often it seems to flare up and now it is almost every month. Sometimes it can last for weeks. Sometimes it is on the left side, then again on the right side. I am worried about his pain and the fact the steroids have been prescribed for long term use.
