Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son who is 14 mo just had tenotomy on his right big toe. We were told to use his special shoes ( Browns bar). 23 hrs for 2 weeks. We are not compliant as this restrict all his movement. We have been trying hard for the past year to gain his strength as he is physically delayed. He is starting to crawl now.limiting his movement for 2 weeks would only cause more delay , more muscle weakness,etc... he has a hx of mild club foot when he was born,we were compliant with all his treatment plan until he was 7 months. Before we were suppose to wear his shoes at bedtime for 4 yrs. We have notice that not using his shoes has greatly increase his mobility and strength....we have gone to 2 visit from his podiatrist, he commented we are doing a very good job on his shoes....we never told him how non compliant we are for the past 7 months....he was not able to tell the difference...
Now the surgery...do I need to use his shoes for 23 hrs x 2 weeks? Thank you... Non compliant mon
