My Son's Girlfriend, Who Is A Junior In High School,

My son's girlfriend, who is a junior in high school, has been having vaginal bleeding continuously since approximately Christmas. She says that it will go between really heavy and light and that the color will vary between bright red to dark red to reddish brown. She had received 2 depo provera shots; the first was in October of 2015 and the second was suppose to be right before Christmas break but she say it was a couple weeks late. She didn't get the 3rd shot which was due in March/April. She says she has seen a doc multiple times and has been told that nothing can be done and that it was suggested she get the implant as it can't make anything worse and may stop the bleeding.
Just looking for clues as to why the continuous bleeding. She also has other symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea/vomiting (has a prescription for Zofran), depression (has a prescription for Zoloft I believe) along with very little appetite and fatigue.
