Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my toes get numb and hurt really bad in the cold weather. why? When my toes get cold they get numb and start to hurt. It is actually quite painful. I can t get them to feel better till I am in heat again for a while. Sometimes, if I am not wearing socks around the house at night and my toes get cold, they turn blue/gray. Why is this and what can I do?
There are many reasons for this problem including few innocent ones. If pain and numbness are present, first thing to rule out is the problems with blood circulation i.e vascular insufficiency. It is more common in smokers and diabetics. This could also be because of some diseases like vasculitis, atherosclerosis Reynolds etc . See a vascualr surgeon.
