My Wife Is A Cancer Patient. She Has Been Prescribed

My wife is a cancer patient. She has been prescribed and has been taking 20mg per day of memantine to ward off dementia. She recently went into the hospital with an infection (mrsa) She has been treated with antibiotics. For some unknown reason when she went into the hospital they discontinued the mementine. Was this necessary?
