Nausea, Headache, Spotting. History Of Having Unprotected Sex 7 Weeks After Childbirth. HPT Negative. Any Problem?

Hi I have been having unprotected sex since 7 weeks after having my son in October..I came off my period 7 days ago but suspected I could be pregnant and took a test after 3 days of coming off my period .. It was negative...the main reason I took a test was because I have suffered with nausea,I'm very lethargic I have experienced spotting here and there but about 3-4 times.. And I have had headaches also had a few pains in my lower abdomen.. Any idea on what the problem could be?

Welcome to HCM! Are you nursing your son? - Lactational amenorrhoea or cessation of menstruation due to breast feeding necessarily doesn't stop the ovulation and unprotected vaginal sex will result in unwanted pregnancy. A beta hCG or pregnancy test will be positive only after 14 days of conception when the fertilized ovum travels from fallopian tube to the uterus and implants itself on the uterine lining. You could have suffered from nausea and spotting due to progesterone withdrawal bleed; did you take any OCP (oral contraceptive pill)? You may consult your Family Physician to put you on regular OCPs and use barrier contraceptive methods like condoms till then. For headaches please get your BP (blood pressure) checked - Did you have any history of high BP during pregnancy? Lower abdominal pains suggest menstrual cramps and may be relieved with a combination of oral paracetamol with mefenamic acid.
