Nausea, Pain In Jaw, Bump On Head Due To Hitting Head Near Temple On Plane. Worsened Effect Due To Elevation After Hitting Head?

I was a passenger in a small plane yesterday. While landed I hit the side if my head near my temple and above my ear pretty hard. I walked into the wing which I know is pretty funny. I had a pretty good size bump was okay. I flew through two more states. Today I am a little nauseous and my jaw is bothering me on that same side. Do you think the elevation after hitting your head makes it worse? I am suppose to go on a two hour flight this weekend. Thx :)

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Pain in jaw after hitting on plane may be due to fracture or dislocation of jaws .

I would advice you to get a thorough clinical as well as radiological evaluation done.

Jaws has to be immobilized for a while.

Dislocated or fractured jaws has to be replaced by splinting or fixation.

Complete course of antibiotics and analgesics with muscle relaxants has to be administered.

Avoid mouth opening too widely as well as avoid heavy loads on jaws.

Hope this helps.
