Nearing Puberty. No Facial Hair. Growth In Height?

Hi. Im a 17 year old Male and I dont seem to be very far in puberty. (i think im a late bloomer) I dont really remember when i started puberty but I do remember that 8th grade I was shorter then my mom and I recall being taller than her by sophmore year of high school although I dont think it was a growth spurt Since she was not much taller than I was in 8th grade. Anyway, I say that I dont think im far in puberty because I still look 12 and im a week away from my 18th birthday. Im 5'3, no muscles, im 100lbs, my voice has gotten slightly deeper, i do have public and leg hair, barely any facial hair. My last doctors appointment I asked If i can get an x-ray on my growth plates and see if im done growing and he didnt do it because he automatically assumed that because im 17 im done growing. I dont think he was correct because my cousin was 5'6 when he was 18 and shortly after his 19th birthday he sprouted up to 5'11.
My mom is 5'0
My dad is 5'5

Hi,
Thanks for writing in. I understand your concerns as usually by this age the puberty is attained.
Since you are worried that you are not developing as you should then

1.You should talk to your doctor about your past and family history.
2.Problems with pitutary and thyroid also may lead to delayed puberty. If there is any abnormility found in the tests you may seek help of an endocrinologist.
3.Insist on getting an X-ray for seeing whether your bones are growing normally.
4.Last but not the least talk to your parents about your uncle, aunt or cousins have developed later than usual too. This is called constitutional delay(or being a late bloomer ) which does not require any kind of treatment. You might eventually develop normally just a bit later than your peers.
Hope this helps.
