Neck Pain, Migraine, Sore Throat, Fatigue And Shortness Of Breath. Mono Test Negative. Contagious ?
Hi, I went into the er last night with neck pain , migraine , sore throat , fatigue , weakness, and shortness of breath. I had a breathing treatment, chest xray, and blood work done. All came back normal except my monocyte levels were high. But my mono test was negative. They discharged me with a prescription for cough syrup and a diagnosis of viral infection. Here is my question. First, am I contagious? And second, should I follow up with my GP? I am a 25 year old female.

your symptoms go in favor of viral infection.
for viral fever symptomatic treatment should be taken,
do warm water gargling twice a day.
take paracetomol for fever.
cough syrup for cough.
usually viral infection will resolve by themselves.
you can spread disease to others while sneezing, coughing etc...
If your symptoms worsen better to consult physician. otherwise continue same treatment..
