Neck Pain, Swelling. Feel Like A Hangover. Help?

The other day I moved suddenly and something went in the left side of my neck . Then I developed pain and my neck is swollen on one side and hurts to touch. Movement is restricted and I can t move my head in the opposite direction. Painkillers don t seem to be working and I ve had a headache that feels a bit like a hangover for a few days I m not sure if this is connected. Any help would be much appreciated!

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
There may be possibilities of muscle sprain or cervical spine disc herniation.
Presence of aggravation of pain on moving neck suggests the diagnosis.
You should consult with internal medicine specialist/ orthopedic surgeon and should go for thorough check up.
You should use hard collar for support of neck.
You should do strict bed rest.
You should take analgesic along with muscle relaxants.
You should apply analgesic ointment for faster relief.
Take care,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
