hi im 36y.o. result of my pelvis u/s was anteverted normal size and echo pattern uterus measuring 6cm x 3.7 cm x 4.5 cm. Endometrium appears regular and measures 3 mm thick. both ovaries appears normal. minimal fluid collection noted in the POD. what does this mean?
Pouch Of douglas(POD) is located between the rectum and the back part of the uterus. Fluid in the pouch can be seen in numerous conditions. The commonest is soon after ovulation which is very much normal and happens due to release of blood and fluid from the follicle rupture site in the ovary.
Other conditions like pelvic inflammatory disease etc can also cause minimal fluid in POD. So,it is important to know your symptoms. Other findings like uterus, endometrium, adnexa appears normal.
Hope I have answered your question. Take Care Dr.Indu Bhushan
