Need Help With Understanding My Early Pregnancy Ultrasound
I had the below ultrasound on 6.28.14. I m a 40 yr old female. My lmp was 5.9.14. Only possible conception dates were 5.22.14 & 5.30.14. I m concerned the fetus is not growing normally due to the ultrasound findings. I went to the ER because I have been having lower and pain. According to my lmp I should have been 7wks. The uterus is normal in size and very heterogeneous with a prominent anterior wall but no discrete focal masses. Adenomyosis should be considered. The uterus also contains a gestational sac with yolk sac and questionable fetal pole and a heart rate of 95 bpm in the endometrial cavity. Mean sac dimensions of 0.8 cm indicate a gestational age of less than 5 weeks The right ovary is sonographically unremarkable. The left ovary is sonographically unremarkable.. Arterial and venous flow patterns were identified in both ovaries. No free fluid is identified In the cul-de-sac. ** IMPRESSION **: Live intrauterine pregnancy with a gestational age of less than 5 weeks. Followup is recommended..
There is some discrepancy in pregnancy age between the dates of your last period and the ultrasound age. This can happen but should always be confirmed by repeat ultrasound done 15 days later to get the real age of the pregnancy. It will also show the presence of heart beat which can confirm viability of the fetus.
As per present ultrasound, the size of sac is 8 mm and this is the usual size at 5 weeks. There is no need to get worried but please get a follow up ultrasound in 15 days to make things clear.
