Need Medication For A 5 Day Old Baby Who Is Passing Loose Stools
hi docter..my 5 day old baby is passing loose stools ever since last night..stools r almlst 15+ in number ..watery yellow....is it normal? ...baby looks fine taking breastfeed normally and passing urine normaly..i.m.worried are stools normal or should i take him to emergancy?
Hi No it's not normal. An infection with a virus, bacteria, or parasite can be the likely cause.Diarrhea makes the body lose too much water and minerals called electrolytes. That leads to dehydration.Small babies can get dehydrated very quickly.Take him to a pediatrician.Doctor will check dehydration if required fluids through an IV in their veins.Antibiotics could also be given depeding on the nature of infection. However mostly its viral. You should take the baby to emergency to be on saferside.
