My draughts is 5 1/2 months old and she's been eating baby food for over a month and hasn't had any problems.. But I've noticed she has a dry cough and now is sneezing and has a runny nose. And she's had several bowel movements and her last one was very sticky... Is this normal?
Cough, cold with loose motion in this age is mostly due to viral infection. You can give her antiallergic(chlorpheniramine) with decongestant(phenylephrine) syrup three times a day. Put nasal saline drop in her nostril alternatively at an interval of one to two minutes, three to four times a day.Give her zinc syrup and probiotics for early recovery from diarrhea. It usually takes 4-5 days for these symptoms to subside. The main aim in loose stool is to prevent dehydration by giving adequate amount of fluids(ORS and feed). Observe for decreased urinary frequency,lethargy/irritability,decreased oral acceptance and if you notice any of these consult your doctor immediately. All the above mentioned medications are prescription drug,so get it prescribed by a physician. Regards
