Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 41 y.o. female with a strong family history of HTN and Hypercholesterolemia, recently my blood pressure has ranged from 130s to 160 systolic and 88-98 diastolic. I am taking Wellbutrin XL for depression and am not sure of drug interactions. What would be the best entry level antihypertensive medication to start with and why? I have an appointment with a doctor in a couple of weeks and I am trying to research medications but am having a hard time finding suggestions.
Dear Madam Thanks for writing to us. There are 4 major class of antihypertensives. These include diuretics, calcium channel blockers, Angiotensin receptors blockers & angiotensin inhibitors. The preference depends upon compelling factors, patient's profile and physicians preference. Wait and consult with your physician Sincerely Sukhvinder
