My friend 40 yrs wt 38.9 kgs was diagnosed with right lung Pleural effusion 8 ml fluid tested with protein 7.0 g% Sugar 20 mg% Total Cells 1600/mm RBC 500 WBC 1100 Differential Lymphocytes 100 p His doctor has prescribed FORECOX 2 tabs before breakfast ( Rifampicin 225 Isoniazid 150 Pyraznamide 750 Ethmbutol Hydrochloride 400 mg) since taking medicine he is feeling giddiness for 1-2 hrs also upset stomach, is the dose right ? he is feeling lose of appetite. Is it required to drain out all the fluid as his doctor has said that medicine will dry the fluid, Dry cough has improved since taking medicine. I have been with him thru out the check up and Fluid Test any precaution required for family & friends.

Many a times tubercular drugs intake will cause stomach upset and in that case these drugs can be taken 1-2 hour after the breakfast and patoprazole-domperidone tablet 1/2 hour before the breakfast. There is no need to drain all the fluid out and drugs itself will dry the fluid. Don't worry. Your condition will improve in 10 days but you should not skip any dose of anti-tubercular medications throughout the course of treatment. Thank you Regards Dr Arnab Maji
