Newborn, Patches Of Rash On Leg, Looking Like Sesame Seeds Trapped Under Skin. Any Ideas?
My newborn has two patches of rash on his leg -- one at the groin fold and one behind his knee on his one leg. The patches look like a collection of white sesame seeds trapped under the skin -- basically flat and numerous- well spaced out and not on top of one another or clumped. He has had them since he was 4 days old. He is now 4 weeks.
Hi dear, From your description it looks like your baby is having milia which are tiny white bumps. Usually appearing in first week of life and may persist till 1-2 mths. But it is self limited and no medications are needed. However it is advisable to show it to your doctor during the next visit and confirm the diagnosis. Don't worry. He will be fine.
Take care. Dr. Balaji CHinnasami MD Assistant Professor, Pediatrics
