Hi,

The problem is that when you were born, your testes (that are inside) were not gone down in the testicles as it should be normally. This explains why there is no uterus inside you.

That is why your chromosomes are XY (genotype), with testes not developed (still in their embrional stage) causing you appearance of a girl (phenotype).

The operation is to take off these testes to the scrotum. However, you did not mention whether you got scrotum or vagina and what are the levels of your sexual hormones.

Hope it helped!

OBGYN Dr. Shanti Vennam's  Response
Hello,
I am very sorry for you. What you have is a rare developmental defect when testes fail to descend during intrauterine life and as such differentiation of the external genitalia resembles that of a female. The management varies with the type of the defect and the associated features like state of the sex organs, external features etc. Removal of testes should be one of the treatment options. I would ask you to see an expert geneticist for further evaluation and proper guidance. Hope this helps.
