No Sex Drive, Taking Medication For Depression. Common Side Effect?
Hi. I am wanting to know if I can do anything about my husband having no sex drive. He s 38. He is on a mild anti-depressent prescribed for anger, and the low/no sex drive coincides with starting the medication . Is he on the wrong one?? Or is this just a common side affect. I am worried that its either living with an angry man that lashes out (verbally) all the time or living with someone with no sexual or emotional desires for me is all the choices I have...
As such depression it self is a big factor for low sex drive and the medication used for depression are also causing this problem.
Common medication used for treatment of depression like SSRTI (selective serotonine Reuptake Inhibitors) commonly cause this problem. Now it is important that if depression already have supressed the drive and you are prescribed a drug which further supress this than it is problem.
So if this is happening after starting medication, than consult your doctor to change the medication to something else.
Thanks and take care.
