Nodule In Neck Over Carotid. What Is It? Hypothyroidism. Worry?

I have a small nodule/mass on the right side of my neck almost over my carotid. It is not painful and seems to not be changing in size. I do have hypothyroid but I am waiting for my insurance to kick in before I have it checked out. It has been there for a few years but it is worrying me and I am wondering what it could be.

Hi,

If you have a nodule in neck, you should get it evaluated. The usual tests we do are an Ultrasound neck and a needle test (FNAC). It could be a swelling in thyroid or a lymph node near your thyroid. If its not growing, it is not an emergency situation , so you can wait to get your insurance ready and get started.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
