Hello and welcome,
Thanks for your query.
I understand your
anxiety and wish to inform you that the
rehabilitation phase after a
stroke is vital. We need to start
physiotherapy and try to mobilize the patient as much as possible immediately after the stroke.
This will help in avoiding
atrophy (reducing in size due to reduced function) of the muscles, which worsens the scope of recovery. But, I am sure the concerned doctor would have ensured this.
I would also like you to know that, a patient who is paralyzed and thus dependent on you will only be fed an amount you wish to feed them. So please see to it that your husband receives ample amount of nutrition, this is solely your responsibility.
Sadly, after a stroke of this degree (your husbands), the expected life span does reduce in most patients. Although this can be avoided if the patient and family members take care and work hard on the patients recovery.
Please don't give up, continue the treatment. Get his blood pressure, blood sugar levels and
cholesterol level regularly checked. Maintain logs for the same and see the recovery for yourself as it happens.
Any guidance or assistance required, our team of doctors are always at your service.
I wish you luck and patience.
Best regards.
