Not Getting Proper Period After An Unprotected Sex
Hello, im 15 me and my boyfriend have been in a steady relationship for 7months, the day after i came off my period we had sex stupidly without protection 24hours later i took the morning after pill ( levonelle ) a week later i had bleeding it was like a period but this would be far to early? does this mean the pill worked about 2weeks later i had the same bleeding but not sure if this was a period or not this month i havent had a period im a day late is this normal?
Hi,
Thanks for consulting us.
Bleeding commonly occurs 7 days after taking the morning after pill. This is a completely normal expected response indicating it's effect. So, no need to worry about that.
Remember morning after pill contains hormones, that may have affected the normal cyclical changes of hormones in your body, that is causing somewhat altered pattern of your periods. It will settle soon. But if your periods are too late you should do a pregnancy test.
More important for you is to use a regular contraception preferably along with a barrier method, as you are too young & probably not ready for a pregnancy. You should discuss about this with your parents & a gynecologist to prescribe you one. Take care.
