Numbness And Swelling In Finger. Diagnosed With Bone Cyst Which Ruptured Recently. Treatment?

I was diagnosed with a bone cyst on my finger. You could feel a small hard lump, and it was causing numbness in that finger. I was suppose to have surgery on it at the beginning of the year and simply out it off. about 4 months ago the cyst burst and now not only do I have a numb finger but more swelling that goes up and down in varying degrees. It is as if this thing is leaking fluids and it has no where to go so my finger swells up. Just this week I started getting sensations of varying degrees of pain running into the knuckle on top of my hand. My question is what can my hand surgeon do now that the cyst is ruptured?

Hello, I have gone through your query and understood your concern. Bone cyst aren't needed to be worried if they are asymptomatic, but as you have increased pain after rupture the debris might have cleared by your lymphatic system or if that is too much it might create infection. I suggest you wait for few days and take antibiotics OTC and if the pain doesn't subsides or infection seem to increase please consult doctor. Hope it helped you. Thanks.
