Obese With Mild L5-S1, One Leg And Both Knees Inactive. Advised Total Knee Replacement. Suggestion?

hi sir, my mother is the patient of mild L5 S1 Now this time she couldnot walk. At the time of walking his left leg is not working. and his both legs knees are not working properly. some Dr. Like Dr.Chandrashekhar kulkarni sir,Was suggest to total knee replacement and she is very fat.At the time of sitting she can move his legs and up and down both.

I do not think it is right choice for her. First we have to make sure that she is not having problems due to nerve compression. I would suggest you to get EMG/NCV test of her both leg.If there is nerve compression then TKR will not be helpfull. Thouh if she had normal nerve test then you can plan TKR for her. You can forward her reports on this forum . I will try my best to help you.
