Old Aged, Having ADDH, RA. Advised Stop Taking Adderall, Instead Take Caffeine. What To Do?
I am 61 and been on adderall for approximately 5 years when addh from testing.. RA since 2007. Proir to that had a sleep study-no sleep apenea but woke every 15 min. Moved got new internest who said he would be more comfortable if I got off the adderall. (Did a heart echo which had not changed in 4 years). He also said he didn't know of anyone my age on this med. Said I could use caffeine instead. I was shocked. Caffeine messes with methotrexate. I am taking 15 mg/day of the adderall. And, I do like feeling normal. I hate the thought of dragging out of bed fighting fatigue all day. Fighting RA is enough. Do you feel that adderall is "bad"because of my age?
Hi ADHD will never start at age 56 but it may be missed by everyone. people with ADHD in adult life have history of reduced productivity, low achievement, frequent change of work, low fuse for anger outburst, inner restlessness, drug abuse, legal problems , inability to maintain relationships etc. If on prescribing Adderall , you had improvement in all areas, there is no reason why you should stop adderal. Caffeine will never substitute this, rather this is a habituating substance, best avoided. I think you should continue to take it
