Old Woman Put On Tramadol Tablets. Lost Weight, Vomiting, High BP. Stop Medication?
Yes my 84 year old mother had a fall in town a few weeks ago and her doctor has put her on Tramadol tablets for the pain which she is experiencing in her hips, lower back and legs. She had an xray and there are no broken bones we hope! She has been losing weight since and with the pain is vomiting regularly. She has always had high blood pressure and has been on those tablets plus some others I am not sure of for whatever symptoms she has had over the years.
We are worried about the losing weight and vomiting and I see this can be a side effect of tramadol - could this also be a reaction with the other medication she takes?
I took her to a Chiropractor today and she got immediate relief from his manipulation so it may be that she was just badly out of alignment and that has caused the severe pain.
What would you recommend - I want her to stop taking the tramadol for now.

Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.
Tramadol is supposed to produce severe vomitings in few persons who are intolerent to it. Any drug which is producing adverse reactions is to be stopped immediately and should go for an alternate medicine.
As your mother has got good pain relief with manipulation, I suggest to continue the same without resorting to medicines.
