On HRT Estrogen, Progesterone, Testesterone Creams. History Of Complete Hysterectomy. Hives, Swollen Lips Due To Progesterone. Can Continue Other Hormones?
Hi,just wanting some advice on my bioidentical progesterone cream.I had a complete hysterectomy about 5 years ago and a few weeks ago was put on HRT estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone creams.I take my progesterone at night and it started all of a sudden giving me hives,at one point my lips were almost double the size. This really scared me and my compound pharmacist has switched me to the pill form.I am still getting hives. Is it ok to continue my other 2 hormones without the progesterone? Please help me I do not know what to do!
Hello.Hormone replacement therapy(HRT) with estrogens is effective for menopausal symptoms but also has risks. To reduce adverse effects of estrogens, progesterone is the most used and effective drug. You should go to your gynecologist so that he decide about to continue treatment without progesterone or evaluate other possible pharmacological treatments. I wish you good health.
