Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
On Vagifem Cream, Estrace. Is There An Alternative?
I work as a Medicare Part D specialist. I am trying to advise a client about a medication but can't seem to figure out what she has. She used to take Vagifem Cream but to save money she says the doctor has changed her to Estradiol cream. The brand name is Estrace and it doesn't even show that there is a generic equivalent in the cream. This may not be something you can help with but if you can it would be wonderful
I understand your concerns. Having the vagifem cream and estrace is one of the solutions to your problems and since you are being covered by medicare part D for both these medications as well as your specialist, I would like for you to contact your specialist to find out if there is another medication that is covered in your insurance that could help you better. The generic equivalents should be the same, however there are varying reports of efficacy. I hope you understand.
I hope this helps. Take care and have a lovely day!
