On And Off Low Grade Fever. Chewing And Drooly, Sleepy, Taking Fluids Fine. Is This Related To Teething ?

My 5 month Grandson has been running a low grade fever off and on for approx 6 weeks now. 99 to 100 temps.

took to Pediatrician and all clear...lungs, sinus', ears clear. he is chewing like crazy and very drooly, so I am thinking it's teeth, even though he hasn't "cut" any teeth. Doc says no fever with teething, but all my kids did, so I kinda don't agree with that. With this being 6 weeks, just wondering if other testing should be done or just assume his body is building a immune system and fighting off what ever virus he has. has some days that he is very sleepy. Taking fluids fine. Is there something else we need to be looking at?:

Hi,

Teething never brings temperature. It is an aseptic process. During childhood the children come in contact with all the viruses around and so they manifest temperature etc. So the temperature it's because of the infection and not from teething.

You should test the child for streptococcal pharyngitis.

Sometimes strep gives the symptoms you describe.

If it is positive than you should treat him aggresively.
