On Antibiotics For A Swollen Lymph Node On The Neck. Sore Throat, Congestion And Fatigue. Further Medication?
Hello, I am a 23 year old female and I started a antibiotic six days ago for a swollen lymph node (a little less than a centimeter) on the back right side of my neck. I had a mild sore throat, very congested, and tired. however, two more lymph nodes have come on the left side and my mucus is actually thickening up and turning yellow. I also feel random dull pains around my core through out the day.
I read your query regarding sore throat and enlarged lymph nodes on the neck. You are taking antibiotic for the same for a week but instead of getting cure you have developed two more nodes.
Considering your symptoms and development taking place it appears as the antibiotic you have taken is not effective. to know the correct antibiotic and pathological process going on you should do these two basic investigations.-
(a) FNAC from neck lymph nodes.
(b) Culture and sensitivity of throat swab.
By these two investigations one can find out the reasion for lymphadenopathy and the infecting organism of throat and which antibiotic will be most effective in your case.
I hope this answers your query.
Regards.
