Ok I have a question regarding birth control diane 35 and apo-minocycline 100mg 2xs a day for acne control. I'm also 18months rny post op. my question is the following ... My boyfriend and I have been using the pill an condoms until 2 weeks ago. Now I'm super worried if the pill is not going to work... Please advise. Should I be worried. I'm getting confusing info...

Hi

Thanks for asking.

Antibiotics can cause enzyme induction with resultant decrease in the efficacy of the oral contraceptive pills.

That is why it is recommended that some other contraceptive method is used if taking pills with antibiotics.

Mainly the erythromycin group of drugs are the culprit, but can happen with the doxycycline and other tetracycline group of drugs.
